Andy Moore's race report:
This past weekend saw the ETS series visit Mattsee Austria to race on the unique indoor asphalt track. This year the track and pits were totally covered by one huge marquee which turned out to be needed as it rained almost continuously for 4 days.
As the asphalt that the track was built on is normally a parking lot Thursdays free practice started out with very little traction so the ETS crew finally decided to spray the track with track max to help the grip. After this had dried out the traction improved a lot and my starting setup felt pretty close from the beginning.
During the final free practice and controlled practice I used these runs to break in race tyres and try to find a little more front bite. Switching to stiffer springs really helped with overall bite and after controlled practice one I was 2nd and after controlled practice two ended up 10th seed in the final heat.
For qualifying I was confident of top 5 finishes after the lap times from practice, but due to the size of the track and the short lap time traffic in the final heat was difficult to deal with.
Q1 – No setup change for the first round and I was running good pace from the start but at around the 4 min mark I needed to open up for Akio (the leader) and a small mistake at the end of the main straight I lost about one second and finished 8th.
Q2 – A setup change to gain a little more steering didn’t work out in this round, I had one spin in the middle section and would end up 11th.
Q3 – This was the most frustrating round, again running a solid top 5 pace but having to open up for the leader on this small track was enough to drop me down to 8thin round again.
Q4 – I was sitting 10th overall just needing another safe run to stay in the main but unfortunately again traffic would be my problem, this time another crashed and car pulled back on line in front of me sending me flying onto the main straight and ending the run. Once again leaving me unlucky 11th
The finals were quite straight forward and I was able to comfortably win the first and third B main.
Now we keep focused on the upcoming races. Already in 2 weeks the Reedy Race followed by the ETS Rd. 5 in Luxembourg.

The fourth ETS round 2015 was held in Mattsee, Austria. The weather forecast looked really bad but as known from last year, a huge tent which covered the track and pits made racing possible, even when rain came down all day long.
Practice starts already on Thursday morning in groups. After the first round, the ETS crew decided to take a break and prepare the track with some traction compound. The place is usually used to be a parking lot so traction was really low.
After the day one, we, again Andy Moore, Jilles Groskamp, Hiro Kasuya and myself sit together and created the plan for the next days.
Friday started with free practice, followed by controlled practice and already one qualification round.
Andy’s car had a great performance from the very beginning of the event and also Jilles and myself were able to improve from run to run. Hiro took care of all of us and together, we prepared and improved the cars performance.
Overall qualification results saw Andy super unlucky to take the 11th spot, which means BQ. He was on tie with place 10 but a slower 5min run dropped him into the B Final.
Myself right behind Andy in 12th and Jilles, who had to fight the whole weekend with electronic problems, in 18th.
Of course we were not happy about our qualification results, but we are growing a lot as a team and learned again very important, new, details.
We used the finals to try something different in setups and could improve our paces again.
